Fall Haiku
October 1 - 28
What better time to write haiku than during the beautifully changing season of fall. Even when the leaves have already fallen, there is a quiet in the air. It is a time to contemplate. It is a time to consider one’s own changes. Treat yourself to some quiet time writing this contemplative form and learn an important practice that will enhance your writing and your life. The class has been designed to meet the needs of both very beginning poets and advanced poets. Come journey with me!

Haibun
October 1 - 28
Haibun is a wonderful Japanese form that originates from haiku. The magic of haibun is that it tells a story using both prose and haiku, giving you more freedom to create and play with the stories you want to tell, whether your own or those from your imagination. Bruce Ross writes: “If a haiku is an insight into a moment of experience, a haibun is the story or narrative of how someone came to have that insight.” Come explore this fun and exciting way of writing!

Time for Your Book!
October 1 - 28
You’ve been taking classes with me for years and now you have all these wonderful poems (yes, they’re wonderful!). That means it’s time to start organizing them and doing final edits on them to create your book. In this class, we’ll start the process of looking at our poems, editing them (and receiving feedback from our peers and of course, Bird), organizing them and deciding on section headings and a book title. This class will continue into other months, so you can do it step by step by step. Cuz your stories are important, and it’s time to gather them for future generations!
